Michelle Rick is a New York City based street photographer. She was born and raised in Greenwich Village and Soho. She earned her B.A. from Northwestern University as an English Major in Fiction Writing in 1994, and her M.F.A. in Fiction Writing from The New School in 2002. Since then she has worked at Vanity Fair Magazine, New Line/Picturehouse Films, Fox 2000, Scott Rudin Productions, and others. In 2009, while at an impasse in her writing, she began taking pictures locally. Since then her photography has appeared in numerous exhibitions from Berlin to New York, and publications, including The New York Observer, Time Out New York, Grand Life Hotels and the New York Times East Village blog. She juried the first annual StreetFoto San Francisco International Street Photography Awards in 2016. In 2018 she joined an international group of documentary and street photographers as a member of Held Collective.
